The CDS Consulting Co-op has data from 200 co-op employee surveys that provides a useful benchmark for co-ops striving to improve their workplaces. The surveys revealed that employees want to feel connected to the co-op’s mission, and this requires training and education about cooperation. As a cooperative business, giving people the information and tools they need to communicate the co-op difference about ownership, especially staff of food co-ops, is critical to promoting membership among new customers and enhancing belonging for current owners.
